The best hedge for privacy depends on your site conditions, desired appearance, and how quickly you want the hedge to establish. Popular choices include Laurel, Portuguese Laurel, Beech, Hornbeam, and mixed native hedging. We can recommend the most suitable species & sizes based on your location and requirements.
Do you supply native Scottish hedging and trees?

Bare root or rootballed – which is best?
The best option depends on your project, budget, and planting time frame. Bare root plants are a cost-effective choice for hedging, woodland planting, shelterbelts, and larger landscaping projects. Available during the dormant season (typically November to March), they’re easy to transport, simple to plant, and establish exceptionally well when planted correctly.
Rootballed plants are supplied with a ball of soil around their roots, making them ideal for larger, more mature trees and hedging where you want an instant impact, greater privacy, or a more established appearance. They are often the preferred choice for formal gardens, commercial landscaping projects, and premium planting schemes.

When is the best time to plant trees and hedging?
The ideal planting season for bare root trees and hedging is generally between November and March while plants are dormant. Container-grown and some rootballed plants can be planted throughout much of the year, provided they are watered and maintained correctly. We can advise on the best planting window for your chosen species.
