Henderson Nurseries is a family-run plant nursery, tree and hedging specialist based in North-East Scotland. Led by Scott Henderson and Lois McPherson, we combine generations of horticultural experience with a practical understanding of plants, landscaping and the rural sector.

Henderson Nurseries is run by Scott Henderson and Lois McPherson. As a fifth-generation nurseryman, Scott carries forward a rich family tradition rooted in a genuine passion for plants, trees and outdoor spaces.

Our business was founded with a straightforward aim: to provide healthy, high-quality plants alongside honest advice and a dependable, professional service. Whether we are supplying a single tree, planting a substantial new hedge or helping to transform an entire outdoor space, every project receives the same level of care and attention.

We understand that choosing the right trees and hedging can feel complicated. That is why we take the time to understand your location, soil, available space and long-term goals before recommending the most suitable options.

Lois McPherson

Founder | Rural Business Knowledge and Customer Support

Lois holds a First-Class Honours degree in Rural Business Management and brings valuable commercial and agricultural knowledge to Henderson Nurseries.

Alongside running the nursery, Lois works part-time for a large Aberdeenshire estate, where her role focuses on the estate’s farming enterprise. This gives her a strong understanding of the rural sector and the practical requirements of homeowners, farms, estates and countryside businesses.

Lois started the nursery with Scott in 2022, and has since been supporting customers throughout the ordering and delivery process, helping to ensure that communication remains clear and every project is carefully coordinated from beginning to end.

Founder | Fifth-Generation Nurseryman and Tree Specialist

Scott is a fifth-generation nurseryman with horticultural knowledge and experience passed down through his family.

After completing a horticultural course at college while working for a Scottish plant nursery, Scott progressed to a role with an Aberdeenshire turf farm, where he specialised in sports turf maintenance. This experience developed his understanding of soil preparation, grass care, planting conditions and the long-term establishment of outdoor spaces.

In 2022, Scott took the next step and established Henderson Nurseries. Today, he works directly with customers to supply, deliver and plant trees and hedging throughout Aberdeenshire and further afield.

Supply
We grow and carefully source quality bare root and root ball trees, hedging, shrubs, fruit trees and ornamental trees. From young whips to extra heavy standard mature trees, we can supply plants in sizes suited to almost every project.
Delivery
Your plants can be delivered directly to your garden, estate, farm or project site. We carefully coordinate lifting and delivery to help maintain plant quality and minimise unnecessary time out of the ground.
Planting
Our professional planting service gives your new trees and hedging the strongest possible start. We can undertake ground preparation, spacing, planting, staking and associated landscaping work where required.
Aftercare Advice
We provide clear advice on watering, feeding, pruning and establishment so that you understand how to care for your newly planted trees and hedging during their most important early stages.

Bare Root Hedging

Henderson Nurseries is proud to be based on the beautiful Craigston Castle Estate, just outside Turriff in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Surrounded by historic parkland and stunning countryside, is the perfect setting for growing high-quality plants for gardens, landscaping projects and commercial schemes across Scotland.

We are delighted to work closely with William Urquhart, 12^th laird of Craigston and his team, helping to breathe new life into the estate’s historic Walled Garden, developing the space while respecting its rich heritage and creating an inspiring environment with traditional horticulture and modern planting techniques.

Being part of the Craigston Castle Estate reflects our own values of craftsmanship, heritage and quality. We are proud to play a role in the ongoing restoration and enhancement of this remarkable estate.
